How to get here
The closest town and hub for public transport to Fanøy is Florø. There are several ways to get Fanøy, be it by public or your own boat. If you are coming from afar, you can get to Florø by plane, car, bus or boat.
By plane
Florø has its own airport with direct flights to and from Oslo, Bergen and Trondheim. From Florø Airport to Florø Harbour, you can take the bus or a taxi and it is only 5 minutes driving time from the airport to the city center. You can find more information about transport to and from the airport on the website of Avinor.
By car
Are you planning on driving to Florø? You can park your car at Florø Harbour, close to where the boat departs. Keep in mind this paid parking; you can pay at the terminal of the parking lot.
You don’t need your car on Fanøy island, so we encourage you to leave your car in Florø. There’s only 5 kilometers of road on the island and a quick 10-minute walk from the pier to the entrance of Fanøy Island Lodge. Spare yourself the hassle. Experience Fanøy without a car – trust us when we say you do not want your car.
If you do want to take your car to the island, you need to book a spot for your car on the ferry beforehand. You can do this by calling +47 94 83 86 99 between 9:00 and 14:00 on business days or through Norled’s online portal. You still need to buy separate tickets for you and the rest of your group. You have to be at the harbor 10 minutes before departure.
By public boat
It’s easy to get to Fanøy Island Lodge with the public boat from Florø. Route number 292 with Norled takes you from Florø Harbour (Florø Terminal) to Fanøy island (Fanøy Kai), with some stops at neighboring islands along the way.
This scenic ferry ride takes, depending on which departure you choose, between 30 minutes to 1 hour.

How to book the boat
There are multiple ways you can buy tickets for your boat journey. Tickets cost circa 49 NOK per person:
- The easiest way is to buy your tickets on the boat, either with cash or card.
- You can also download the Skyss app to buy a ticket. If you use the app, you will need to register your credit card information and select zone H. You can show your ticket in the app to the staff upon boarding the boat. Do this right before you board the boat, since the ticket is time-based and counts down from 60 minutes the second you have paid.
By private boat
You can also sail to Fanøy Island Lodge with your private boat and dock it at our pier, right next to the lodge.
To/from Bergen by express boat
Are you traveling from Bergen by express boat? Good news! Most of the departure times to Fanøy fit seamlessly with the Norled express boat to and from Bergen. Simply get off at Florø and walk to the boat. You can buy tickets for the express boat on Norled’s website.
Around the island
The island is best explored on foot, and it is a short and easy walk from the quay to the lodge.
From the quay, take the first road to the right and follow it for about 120m. You then turn left and follow the road for approx. 450m, turn left again, and after approx. 35m you will see a green gate on the left. You have arrived at Fanøy Island Lodge. Welcome!
Food and drink
Close to the ferry quay on Fanøy is the grocery shop Nærbutikken Batalden. Here you will find everything you need in terms of food and drink. The shop is mainly self-service, except during a defined core time around the scheduled ferry call in the afternoon, and is therefore easily accessible both late and early. The shop is actually open from 07:00-23:00 365 days a year! In addition to a good selection of food and a great fruit and vegetable section, the store offers services such as the national lottery, a library, kayak hire and tourist information.
Here you can also find a selection of goods ranging from flowers and toys to fishing equipment. In connection with the store, there is a cozy coffee corner where everyone is most welcome to relax with a cup of coffee. Several times a year there are social events in the coffee corner.
Kayak hire
Batalden Landhandel has two kayaks for hire, the price is NOK 300 per kayak a day. Included in the price is oar, life jacket, oar pad, oar line and splash cover. To rent, you must be over 18 years old and have completed a certified course in kayaking. Kayaks can be pre-ordered or rented directly.
